Height: On average 1.50m for mares; 1.5 m for males. Color: Mainly bay, chestnut. It has a head with a straight profile; rather long ears; a broad chest; wide, slightly sloping croup; and a thick mane and tail. Distribution: Heilongjiang Province, northeastern China. The Heilongjiang has a gentle nature; it is powerful, undemanding, and resistant to illness. It is used for riding and for pulling.This local breed is now considered endangered.

This recent breed was created by mixing Mongolian with Don, Orlov, Soviet Draft, Ardennais, and other blood, with the goal of combining the robustness of Mongolian horses and the attributes of the other breeds.
