This recent breed was developed in the first half of the twentieth century from crossings among Shetland and Welsh horses, with a bit of Criollo blood. It is intelligent, gentle energetic, bold, and agile. It is robust and easy to keep. This is a good horse for children, ideal for teaching beginning riders. The breed seems to be doing fine.
