It is above all a good carriage horse.This breed's numbers are small, but we can't call it endangered since it is in the process of being created. There are around 30 of these horses.

Using the Schleswig, there is currently an attempt to create a new breed: the Hanoverian Coldblood of Schleswig Origin. This involves crossings among English Thoroughbred mares and Schleswig stallions. The breed can still receive Boulonnais, Breton, Noriker, Suffolk Punch, or French Cob blood.
