Height: Probably under 1.25m. Color: AlI common colors likely. This is probably a small mountain breed, solid and compact. Distribution: Southern Bhutan. The Jata is sure-footed and well adapted to the local environment. It is mainly used as a pack horse or to produce mules. The breed is in decline, in competition with mules.

The Jata is of Indian origin. Bhutanese specialists themselves lack information on this horse, but a study has been proposed to find out more about them.
