品种描述
Height: 1.46m on average for males, 1.41m for mares. Color: Mainly dark, dark bay, dark gray, black, often with white markings. This is a small saddle horse with a solid constitution, a head with a rather straight profile, slightly prominent withers, a rather long back, slightly sloping croup, rather low-set tail, and slender legs. There are three types, which vary depending on their weight. Distribution: The volcanic plateau of Javakheti (high Armenian plateau), in southern Georgia. The Javakheti Harness Horse is intelligent and obedient; it has endurance and a vigorous temperament, and is capable of enduring harsh working conditions. It is a good trotter. It is resilient and well adapted to the harsh climate conditions of Georgia, and to the long, cold winters. It is easy to keep. It is suitable for riding and is also used as apack horse. It is also often crossed with donkeys to produce mules. This local horse remains fairly unknown, including in its own country. The exact numbers of this breed are not known. It is considered rare.
繁育历史
This horse has been bred on the pastureland of the plateau of Javakheti since the nineteenth century (1841-1845),by crossing local mares from Crimea and the Don region with Russian Draft stallions. Later, beginning in 1938, mares were crossed with Ardennais, Belgian, and Percheron horses.
