Height: 1.10m-1.30m. Color: Bay, chestnut, sometimes with a dorsal stripe. It resembles the Barb, but is much smaller, with slender legs. Distribution: North of Togo and north of Benin, but also Burkina Faso. It is simple and resilient. This is a show and racehorse. Having lost their use as war horses, their numbers are now very low. We don't know a great deal about them.

The Kotokolis (or Tem), of Togolese ethnicity, were riders, and the horse was used in their military. Now less useful in that capacity, the horse has become a parade animal. During the Festival of Knives-Adossa-in Sodoké, horse racing and dancing horses, decorated with their most beautiful adornments, are featured.
