Height: 1.40m for mares; 1.45m for males. Color: Chestnut, bay, sometimes with white markings. The Kuda Padi resembles the other small horses of this region of the world: head with straight profile, short back, thin legs, and a rather thick mane and tail. Distribution: Kelantan and Terengganu states, Malaysia. The Kuda Padi is rustic and simple, very prolific, and resistant to illness. It is a versatile horse. It is not noted as endangered, but itsstatus is not really known.

The origins of this small "rice horse" (literal translation of kuda padi) remain obscure, but its name suggests a past of farm work in rice paddies.
