马拉若马

品种描述
Height: 1.30m-1.50m for mares, 1.35m-1.56m for males. Color: All colors are possible, except pinto and white (albino). It has a head with a slightly convex or straight profile, a broad chest, prominent withers, sloping shoulders, and a slightly sloping croup. Distribution: Marajo Island, Para state, northern Brazil. It is active and energetic, docile and strong, and has good endurance. Rustic, the breed is very well adapted to the heat and swampland, where other horses couldn't survive. This is a very good work horse, used for transportation and farm work, and one that is also suitable for recreational riding. The breed flourished up to the middle of the nineteenth century, then the population grew too large and it had to be regulated.The island still has a lot of horses, but most have been crossbred and purebred individuals are no longer as common.
繁育历史
It is descended from Portuguese horses, Lusitanos, and has adapted to the local environment. Crossed with Shetlands, it created thePuruca breed.
