Height: 1.42m-1.53m on average. Color: Bay, chestnut, gray, roan, black/brown dun, buckskin. This is the draft horse of Yakutia. It is taller and thicker than the Yakutian, weighing between 520 kg and 600 kg. Distribution: Russia, the Yakutia region.The Megezh has great endurance and is powerful, but a bit less well adapted to the Siberian climate than the Yakutian. The mares are very fertile. This draft horse is raised essentially to producemeat or milk. It can of course, however, be ridden and harnessed. The breed is rare because it is still being developed, but its numbers are increasing.

In 2011 a new breed of Siberian horse, the Megezh, was made official and considered separate from the Yakutian. The Megezh is the result of crossings arried out in the last forty years between the Yakutian and the Kuznetsk, as well as other draft horses (including the Russian Draft) and the Orlov Trotter. The creation of this new breed is not connected to equestrian sports, but is intended to develop a Yakutian horse able to produce more meat.
