Height: 1.40m. Color: Bay, dark bay, chestnut, gray. It resembles a smaller Canadian horse. Distribution: St. Pierre and Miquelon. They are particularly robust. They are used mainly for trekking, less for light farm work or meat consumption. A census taken in 2007 counted 168 horses on the archipelago. An association has been formed to protect the breed.

It is not yet truly a breed, even if things seem to be moving in that direction, but a small population that has developed overtime on the archipelago. Their origin isn't known; it is perhaps the result, like the Canadian horse, of French, Norman, and Breton horses. It seems that it might have received Clydesdale, Quarter Horse, and Appaloosa blood. Due to the proximity of St.Pierre and Miquelon to Newfoundland, one might wonder what its connection with the rare Newfoundland Pony might be.
