品种描述
Height: 1.54m-1.62m. Color: Always pinto, often tobiano, often black and white. This horse is a light harness type. It has a head with a straight profile; a long, slender neck; a rather long back; long, thin legs; and rather large hooves. Distribution: Midwest region, notably lowa, United States. It is active, has endurance, lives a long time, and has lovely gaits. Some have supplemental gaits. This saddle horse was once enjoyed as a parade horse. The breed has practically disappeared, mainly due to bad management; it suffers notably from problems of inbreeding and from a lot of disagreement among the breeders. There is great concern for this breed, whose reproductive stock has dispersed. If nothing is done to save the few remaining animals, the breed will very soon disappear.
繁育历史
The breed was considered to be extinct until 2007, when an abandoned herd of these horses was discovered in Missouri. It was developed at the beginning of the twentieth century from colored types of Barb, Hackney, American Saddlebred, and French horses (probably Anglo-Norman), and was popular in the 1930s before declining after 1970.
