The morphology of this generally tall, elongated, and muscular horse varies depending upon the crossings that produced the individual. It has a head with a straight profile; solid legs; and a powerful croup. There is a type for show jumping, tall, energetic, and with particularly robust legs; a type for dressage, well balanced and intelligent; and a type for eventing, powerful and with good endurance. Distribution: Poland. It is calm, confident, and energetic. This sport horse excels notably in dressage and show jumping. It is also suitable for eventing and harness racing. The Polish Coldblood is one of the most popular breeds in Poland and is doing fairly well, even if it is unknown in other parts of the world.

This type of horse developed after the war and is becoming a popular breed whose breeding will be increasingly shaped by its good results in competition. This horse is the result of various crossings among Polish breeds such as the Wielkopolski and the Malopolski, and horses of foreign breeds, notably German (Hanoverian, among others), French, and Dutch.
