Height: 1.58m-1.65m. Color: Gray, sometimes bay, but all colors are possible. It has a head with a straight or often concave profile, long neck, slightly slanted croup, and slender legs. Distribution: Westphalia, Germany. It has a good nature and good endurance. It is a saddle horse suited to various English-style disciplines, notably eventing and show jumping competitions. Very rare and endangered, the breed almost disappeared during World War II. Around 40 animals still remain, including 5 stallions and some 20 mares.

This ancient German breed was first crossed with Andalusians, a foundation to which were added mixtures of Thoroughbred, Arabian, and Anglo-Arab. The Senne was once a military horse.
