品种描述
Height: Around 1.50m. Color: Brownish bay, black, bay dun, often with large stockings. This light horse, a close cousin of the Kathiawari and Marwari, but smaller, has slightly curved ears, but much farther apart than those of its cousins. It also has a head with a convex profile. Distribution: Sind region (southeast Pakistan) and Kutch district, in Gujarat (western India). The Sindhi is intelligent, lively, and reliable, and it has good endurance. It has an amble as an additional gait, and it is considered very comfortable to ride. An athlete, it is used for races. It is also traditionally used for various farm work. The breed is very rare and on the brink of extinction. Indians are trying to protect it and to have it officially recognized. A hundred or so horses have been identified in India.
繁育历史
The Sindhi (or Makra) probably descends from Arabian horses, with possible Turkish and Baluchi influences. Genetic testing was done at the beginning of 2013 to differentiate it from Kathiawari and Marwari horses.
