Height: 1.55m-1.75m. Color: Often chestnut with markings, bay, dark bay, gray. This is an elegant horse; it has a slender head with a straight or convex profile, and long ears. It has prominent withers, a straight and powerful back, horizontal croup, high-set tail, and long, strong legs. Distribution: Sweden, with breeding farms in Europe and the United States. It is a poised and intelligent horse, endowed with very lovely gaits. It is resilient in the cold. It is a good horse for competition. Its best discipline is dressage, followed by eventing and show jumping. It can also be harnessed. Very common in Sweden, the breed isdoing well and is exported just about everywhere in the world.

This breed was produced by crossing Swedish draft horses with many other breeds (Arabian, Spanish, Anglo-Norman, Friesian, Hanoverian, Trakhener, Thoroughbred). Once amilitary horse, it has become a good sport horse.
