The Pahlavan, Persian Arabian halfblood, slightly taller than other native horses (1.52m-1.60m), is hardly mentioned in lran anymore, and the animals have perhaps been absorbed into other breeds.

The Pahlavan, a breed started and bred by the shah in the 1950s, created from mixes of Persian Arab, Thoroughbred, and horses from the lranian plateau, of Kurdi or Dareshuri type, with the goal of creating a good sport horse, specifically for show jumping.
