Height: 1.43m-1.50m. Color: Most often light gray with unique silvery highlights, more rarely bay or chestnut. ts conformation is close to that of theArabian. It has a small head with Arabian influence; large eyes; rather long ears; a high-set neck; prominent withers; a broad chest; straight back; short croup; high-set tail; slender, but very solid legs; and resilient hooves. The hair of the mane and tail is fine,silky, and sparse. The skin is thin and the hair of the hide is fine. Distribution: Russia, in the North Caucasus. The Tersk is intelligent, very gentle, and fast; it has good endurance and lovely gaits. It is well adapted to the Russian climate and lives a long time. This very athletic horse is well suited to show jumping, dressage, eventing, and endurance races. It participates in certain galloping races. Its unique silvery coat makes it popular in circuses. This breed, although exceptional both for its unique physical appearance and for its sport abilities, remains surprisingly very rare, with fewer than a thousand animals and slightly more than a hundred mares.

Of recent origin, this light saddle horse was developed in the first quarter of the twentieth century. It is the issue of the Strelet Arabian, a now-extinct breed, that was crossed with Kabarda, Don, Shagya Arabian, and Arabian horses.
