印度混血马
品种描述
Height: 1.50m-1.63m. Color: Bay, chestnut, and other basic colors. The Indian Half-Bred sometimes inherits crescent-shaped ears, which are less noticeable than in the Marwari or the Kathiawari, and has characteristics of the Half-Bred: long neck, prominent withers, sloping shoulders, a rather broad chest, muscular croup, long legs, and a silky hide. Distribution: India. The Indian Half-Bred has endurance, is energetic and docile, and is a rustic sport horse. It is well suited to equestrian sports and makes a good military horse. Still relatively new, and not always well known in India, this type of horse may not be very widespread, though it is not considered truly rare.
繁育历史
In India, there is a lot of crossbreeding among Marwaris and Kathiawaris, either with native horses or with Thoroughbreds. Slightly curved ears therefore don't necessarily indicate a purebred. Halfbreds are notably obtained by crossing those two breeds with English Thoroughbreds and Australian Walers (which were imported in large numbers into India at the beginning of the twentieth century), and with a bit of Arabian, with the goal of creating a good military horse.
